Updated: Oct 20, 2020

Are you looking for different ideas to feed your family since you have gone vegan? Here are some fud ideas to keep them engaged.

Welcome to My Vegan Flow. Going vegan is not as difficult as you may believe, it actually is fun coming up with different ideas as a family. Lets talk about some of the things you can do to keep everyone on board.

“There is no right or wrong way to go about being creative so go for it!”

Lets get started...

Consider planning your meals as a family

My family and I will get together and each think about what different meals we would like to eat and create a list, then each meal is placed by the day of the week we decide to enjoy it. Don't limit yourself in your choices, I have found there are so many ways to veganize a meal. Be creative, and if you get stuck the internet is your friend.

Make cooking a fun activity

Invite your family to join you in the kitchen, even if it is something simple let everyone participate in making the meal. If you have little ones, maybe you can let them wash the veggies, or help you dress a salad. It is always rewarding to take a step back and see what you all created.

Don't worry about the mess

A little mess, or a big mess every now and then is what makes it fun. Don't let that stop you from creating your best work, clean up can be just as fun. Turn on some music, sing your own tune, and make it a game.

Let you creative juices flow

There are so many alternatives to eating meat these days, that you should be able to come up with some pretty cool meal ideas. For example...did you know that Oyster Mushrooms can give you the texture of chicken, and taste as well if you flavor it the way you would your meat. There is no right or wrong way to go about being creative so go for it!

Come up with a theme

Coming up with a theme could make planning easier. lets say you made Mexican Mondays... you could go with vegan tacos, nachos or whatever other dishes you like. coming up with a theme can help you narrow down your dishes and help you start you grocery of items that you will need for the dishes you want to make.

Meal prep, and keep it simple

You have already come up with your list of meals for the week and you know what each meal needs as far as ingredients go. So now that you have done the hard part, the rest is easy. If you have several meals that require onions, chop up your onions and place them into an air tight container and pop into your fridge until you need it. You can put aside a day to focus on your prep, so that all of your ingredients are ready to go and at your finger tips.

Patience is key

Don't get frustrated if you do get it right the first time, It is all trial an error, and who's definition of right do you go with anyway. Even when you have recipes handed down from one person to another, it always tastes a little different. The key is to make it your own and enjoy it while you do.

Eat, Love, Chat

After all of your hard work, you should take time to eat together. Enjoying a meal with the people that you love makes everything taste better. Chat it up... talk about your process, how you would make it differently, and what you want to try next. Eating is a great time to catch up with each other on all the little things you missed out on for the day.
